Part-time jobs for students demanded

DURING the days of the previous government there was an increasing trend of part-time jobs amongst youths, like in the telecommunications sector and other franchises, to bear educational expenses and other everyday expenditure, thus making them more independent and more confident.
Education fees and other expenses have increased a lot during the last two years. Students are putting up all their efforts to get a part-time job to meet their needs but unfortunately all in vain.
Also, local scholarships for poor children have been reduced. It is almost impossible for poor parents these days to educate their children while meeting other expenses.
The government should provide opportunities for part-time jobs to students. This will help them in building up their career.
Part-time jobs (computer operator, library assistant, lab assistant, etc.) should be introduced in colleges and universities and, in turn, either a sum of money or a special concession in fees be given to students who are willing to undertake these jobs. Such part-time jobs are already in practice worldwide.
In addition, internship programmes should be set up where a fixed monthly stipend is given to students in summer vacations to enable them to enhance their professional and practical knowledge. It is imperative that we go in for part-time jobs as early as possible so that students are facilitated in meeting their daily expenses.
